Proceed for the Bible Interpretation (1)

[4] How to Proceed for the Bible Interpretation (Sterrett) (¼º°æÇؼ®À» À§ÇÑ ÁøÇà¹æ¹ý)

(1) Plan for study (study as a whole and study with separate book)

(2) Pray concerning your study (help of the Holy Spirit)

(3) Read enough to remember (read and reread the selected portion)

(4) Observe (in order not to be careless but to be concentrated)
(For instance: Mark 1:1-20, in the ASV)

(¸· 1:1) The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

(¸· 1:2) Even as it is written in Isaiah the prophet, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, Who shall prepare thy way.

(¸· 1:3) The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make ye ready the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight;

(¸· 1:4) John came, who baptized in the wilderness and preached the baptism of repentance unto remission of sins.

(¸· 1:5) And there went out unto him all the country of Judaea, and all they of Jerusalem; And they were baptized of him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.

(¸· 1:6) And John was clothed with camel's hair, and (had) a leathern girdle about his loins, and did eat locusts and wild honey.

(¸· 1:7) And he preached, saying, There cometh after me he that is mig
htier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.

(¸· 1:8) I baptized you in water; But he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit.

(¸· 1:9) And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in the Jordan.

(¸· 1:10) And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens rent asunder, and the Spirit as a dove descending upon him:

(¸· 1:11) And a voice came out of the heavens, Thou art my beloved Son, in thee I am well pleased.

(¸· 1:12) And straightway the Spirit driveth him forth into the wilderness.

(¸· 1:13) And he was in the wilderness forty days tempted of Satan; And
he was with the wild beasts; And the angels ministered unto him.

(¸· 1:14) Now after John was delivered up, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God,

(¸· 1:15) and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe in the gospel.

(¸· 1:16) And passing along by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Anrew the brother of Simon casting a net in the sea; for they were fishers.

(¸· 1:17) And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.

(¸· 1:18) And straightway they left the nets, and followed him.

(¸· 1:19) And going on a little further, he saw James the (son) of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending the net in the boat with the hired servants, and went after him.

¨ç The literary form of the passage (¼º°æ±¸ÀýÀÇ ¹®ÀåÇü½Ä)

narrative, poetry, didactic, prophecy, etc. For example,
verses 1-3 are introduction, verses 4-20, narrative

¨è Repeated words and phrases (¹Ýº¹¾î¿Í ¹Ýº¹±¸)

gospel (1, 14, 15); preaching (4. 7. 14); repent/repentance (4, 15); immediately/straightway (10, 12, 18, 20)

¨é Connective or linking words (Á¢¼Ó»ç³ª °ü°è»ç)

and (11 of verses 4-20 begin with the conjunctions and;
but, for, since, therefore, when, and after, viz. conjunc tions, relatives, etc.)

¨ê Time words (½Ã°£À» ³ªÅ¸³»´Â ¸»)

be found especially in narrative: after, immediately (vv.10, 12, 18, 20); when (v. 10); before, at, evening and one hour later, in those days (v. 9) and after (v. 14).

¨ë Location, or place, words (Áö¿ªÀ̳ª Àå¼Ò¸¦ ³ªÅ¸³»´Â ¸»)
for examples, Judea (v.5); Nazareth (v. 9); Sea of Galil ee (v. 16)

¨ì Contrasts and Comparisons (´ëÁ¶³ª ºñ±³)

My messenger is contrasted with the Lord (2-3); tempted by Satan with the angels ministered to him (13); Son of God can be compared with my beloved Son (1, 11); and John's preaching to Jesus' preaching (7, 14).

¨í Unknown words (¹ÌÁöÀÇ ¸»)

You can look this up in a standard dictionary, except for some Bible names. for examples, in the AV, notice remission (untie) (v. 7), and latchet (leather) strap (v. 7).

¨î The core of each sentence (°¢ ¹®ÀåÀÇ ÇÙ½É)

In long and involved sentences it is well to note the subject, the main verb and the object of the verb. For examples: In Mark 1:14-15, "Jesus came...preaching.... and saying" is the core of the sentence.

¨ï Figurative expression (ºñÀ¯ÀûÀΠǥÇö)

Some are difficult to understand, others easy. For examples, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie (1:7), at hand (1:15), and I will make you to become fishers of men (1:17).

¨ð Logical Sequences (³í¸®Àû ¼ø¼)

Often two items in a passage have a logical connection--
one being the cause of another or one giving a reason for another.

For example, in verse 16 for shows why they cast their ne

ts; in verse 22 Christ's teaching with authority in contrast to the scribes was the reason for the people's astonishment. The key word again is for.

¨ñ Anything strange (À¯º°³ °Í)
