Some people doubt the historical authenticity of some of the miracles in Scripture, such as the feeding of 5,000 people with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes. But I know of at least two incidents that indicate that the miracle of multiplicity is still occurring nowadays.

One is an incident described in the book The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom. When the Netherlands was taken over by Nazi Germany, Corrie and her younger sister Betsie were caught hiding Jews, then arrested and imprisoned in a concentration camp. Betsie suffered from vitamin deficiency, so Corrie smuggled liquid vitamins in a small bottle into the prison. When meal time came, Corrie was about to add a drop of the vitamins on her sister¡¯s bread when she realized that 25 women in the cell were suffering from the same ailment. Out of compassion, Corrie poured a drop from the vitamin bottle onto each woman¡¯s bread. She did that at the next meal and then again at the next. She continued to do this, and amazingly, drops of liquid vitamins kept coming out despite the fact that she had only brought a few days¡¯ supply for her sister. When vitamins were later provided by the prison authority, the vitamin drops stopped coming.

Another record of the miracle of multiplicity was in a video my Ethics Professor showed during class while I was at Golden Gate Baptist Seminary(now Gateway Seminary). It was about charismatic Jesuit priests who ministered near the U.S. and Mexico border. On Thanksgiving Day they decided to provide Thanksgiving meals to people who collected reusable items from the landfill nearby. They prepared food for the 120 people they estimated would come, carried it in a food truck, and were about to distribute. Then more than 200 people showed up. Rather than reducing the portion for each person, they decided to serve as long as the food lasted. They were somehow able to feed all 200 people. They reported this incident to their authorities, and high officials came and investigated, confirming that they had indeed prepared food for only 120 people, but 200 people ate.

When God performs miracles like these, He seems to do it in a very natural way so some people are not even aware that a miracle is happening in their midst. People just explain or excuse it away. I¡¯ve heard many \"scientific\" theories to explain miracles in the Bible, some that are harder to believe than the miracle itself. That¡¯s why Israelites who witnessed the splitting of the Red Sea kept complaining to God afterward. That also explains why 500 people met with Jesus after he was resurrected(1 Cor 15:60), but only 120 people came to Mark¡¯s upper room (Acts 1:15)when they were praying for the coming of the Holy Spirit.

It appears that a miracle can be seen only with eyes of faith.
